I would like to see elimination of the catholic boards to support more local schools. Maybe with one board my Town could finally have a high school instead of being bussed wherever to make the numbers work.

Even with $7 billion from the Feds for COVID-19 is Ford going to spend a dime on distancing at schools or to approve school board plans or to help families keep kids out of school or for paid sick days for all workers in order to prepare for a safe back to school?

Nope.

He needs that money to cancel beer contracts and to get rid of a $6 million dollar man for $150+ million and more patronage appts to get aboard Ford's gravy train etc etc.

Ford rejected TDSB's safe, low budget back-to-school plan.

While claiming people need to be flexible and work toward a solution and that he is "doing everything possible". Hardly.

So now TDSB is force to play Whack-A-Mole with the virus and only put safe plans in place at a few schools.

Excellent article. Merging all school boards would be a start. Other provinces have done it so don’t give me that BNA garbage.

I somehow feel that there is some level of male bashing here in this article. It first addresses parents in this fight together for higher safe education then it strays away and only addresses women are taking the brunt of pain for all. ??? Are you tired of high salaried Male politicians? I dont know much but I do know that teachers here in Ontario are the highest paid in the world.

My kids are registered for in person but will remain absent until their classrooms meet basic public health standards including social distancing and ventilation.

I'm not letting the government off the hook for having to provide a safe classroom by enrolling them in online classes either.

Currently there are 45 kids in my eldest's 7/8 split, being taught by two teachers in the airless, windowless gym.

My 6 year old would be in a double-sized classroom with 20. But the teacher has been warned she may lose half the classroom footprint and may still get a couple more kids.

So - endless summer for a bit longer. I hope the unions bring this to a halt until public health guidelines are met by the government plan.

How will eliminating the Catholic boards get you a high school? How about using money wisely. I’m sick of catholic school getting blamed for public school boards wasting there funds. I live in a town with less then 40 thousand people and we have two high schools, many elementary schools both public and catholic and no we don’t live I. A posh community. Just a hard working farming community. That believes in God and education many kids are bussed. Many more need to walk.
