Great! I love the name change (I changed mine, too, this is Eve Fox, friend of Nancy Hirshberg.) And I agree with you. That's why I've been thinking lately that progressives in the US should shift some of our focus to writing Project 2029 to make our fight about what we want to achieve instead of about stopping what they want to achieve. Also, I love Poshmark :)
browsing poshmark is a perfect way to pretend Trump’s not in office/dismantling America’s democracy for a few minutes, too :) My kids have gotten into reselling their shoes, clothes, toys on poshmark and ebay, too. I think it’s great (though wish poshmark would let us choose postage like ebay does).
You asked more? Yes, more family stories, please. Daughter is a synesthete? How old are your kids now? Do they embrace your causes? Pass you in thought and action, thinking you’re retro? Has the heat pump done all you hoped?
Also, you do seem tuned into our U.S. debacle. I live in Oakland, CA; however, heading to the April 5th protest in D.C. - might you be there?
Excellent idea. We need to set a very high bar for what constitutes a healthy planet. What got us where we are today is a deranged notion of efficiency that fails to incorporate the true costs of our economic activities into pricing. Modern capitalism has only thrived because it has been allowed to externalize (not account for) the downstream costs of its operations. Every nickel of true cost an individual/business can avoid including in the price of their output is a nickel they can claim as “profit”. A perverse incentive structure that gave an illusion of progress when the world seemed to offer an endless free bounty. Time (not a lot of it in the big picture) has revealed the deep and dangerous fundamental logical flaw inherent in “free lunch” economics. Unfortunately, we drank (and continue to drink) deeply of the Kool-aid the free market cult offered (it tastes sweet going down) and now the planet is starting to deliver the bills for our arrogance and wilful ignorance. We need each to be better and all to demand better of those we entrust to guide us. Every bit of effort directed towards that end is effort well spent. Keep it up. You are making a positive difference.
Hi Sarah, I'm also Sarah - checking in with you re: your role at Rewiring America. I'm a set decorator for TV and film in NY/NJ and I was poking around the RA page last week and saw the tab for Creatives - I tried to sign up but it seems like maybe the page is dead. I was curious because I think there is definitely a place to get new electric appliances on screen but at the moment there is no concentrated effort to do it. Are you still trying to connect with creatives in film and TV? I'd like to help make that happen!

P.S. my name is Vicki Autumn (not Augumn). Changed my name for my 50th birthday 26 years ago.
