My climate journey
Floridian here, it is beautiful and terrible and I will never leave. Also going to be putting solar panels as soon as I figure out how the stupid new net-metering rules are going to muck up the process.
Lovely article, and again, your art is wonderful. Before I started reading MVP, your artwork caught my eye again and again in Yes. Update: I have my EV (massive happy dancing), and have already driven 1000 miles (live in a rural area, so that's not so surprising) on electrons.
Your comment on fast fashion caught my attention this time. A few years ago I began dressing the same way from year to year, changing items as they wear out, but staying to a limited color palette and always the same type of garments. It has been fun, because it is so releasing from cultural assumptions. And great for the pocketbook too!
I'm your mother's dancing friend. She turned me on to you and gave me one of your books. I do have solar, and do the little things that I hope help the world, but it's pretty scary. Keep writing!
I just came across this post via the Substack Reads column and I'm glad I did! I too am a climate late-bloomer trying to be more radical and I very much enjoyed your writing.
